BIO / MARIAM CAMARA

I am a 26 year old multimedia artist born and based in a section of Lenapehoking, colonially known as New York City. At the heart of my work is a desire to speak to, represent, and transcend the intangible. My art non-exhaustively has motifs of hope, strength, vulnerability, experience, faith, surrealism, light, nature, guidance, and the inner faculties such as the mind, sense, and soul.

How does one recognize and access their love? That innate, nourishing, bountiful, light we knew when the world receiving us seemed as innocent as ourselves. How, when we are shamed, alienated, silenced, feeble, slow to relinquish wounds, and limited in ability to separate, do we free ourselves from the hold of despair?

Look within.

“Sufficient for Me is Allah, and Allah is the best disposer of affairs.”

Look around.

Look within.

Personal vows. Attuning yourself to the quieted voice of your inner child. She’s been conditioned to  mumble her needs with her eyes down.  She doesn’t feel her words. She Feel for her. Honoring the subtle, for . It is suppression which wreaks havoc.

Suppression had been wreaking havoc the .  does love persist, and how can we harness it and by extension an inner and relational harmony powerful enough to drive us forward triumphantly, as Moses was driven through the Red Sea? How can we find resilience and beauty  How does love present, and how can In the midst of internalized shame, unrelinquished wounds. Lyrics from the  song ‘Love Factory’ say, “each day’s a little victory, she knows how to win a fight… her love is like a factory, and everyday she’s making me, work so hard.”
